The One Step In Setting Goals

Is your life headed in the direction you want it to? Are you waking up each day with energy and purpose? Do you know what you need to do and how to do it in order to get more money, more friends, or more family time?

Getting what you want out of life starts with goals. I know, I know – you are bored of hearing about goals and how to set goals, but are you doing it? Are you waking up each day with pen and paper? Do you have a list of your daily, weekly, and monthly goals? My motivational students who come back to tell me they are still having trouble with creating more abundance in their life all fall short of making goal-setting a daily part of their lives.

On the other hand, successful students who walk away from my seminars and take action at goal-setting wind up double or tripling their earnings, are loosing weight they have been trying to take off for years, and becoming more organized and happy.

What has been their secret? Setting goals, writing them down, and taking action! Let's discuss the term “action”. Do you know what type of action to take? Do you realize that action is not just a physical act when it comes to setting goals?

There is also a mental type of action that must be set in motion. One such example of mental action is to decide “how” you are going to accomplish your goals. This means writing a plan of just how you are going to start and finish a particular goal. Writing plans is a form of mental effort because you have to think of your steps of action before you can take them.

Ask yourself these questions: “How am I going to do it? What are the key sets of principles that will help enable me to achieve my task? What are the strategies that will have to come into play for me to finish my goal successfully?”

At this stage of planning the course of your goals some very tough realities may spring up. In other words, you must be brutally honest with yourself of exactly how you will finish a task when writing a plan. And we know that we must write down the actual physical work that is necessary. And then comes the discipline to follow through with only ourselves to push us to keep going until the job is done.

This is the one stage of goal-setting that spells failure for many people all across the globe. They fail to achieve their goals due to a lack of discipline to stay the course and keep themselves motivated to be a winner. Do not fall into this habit. Do not set goals, write plans, and then dream your life away. Take action, stay disciplined. With disciplined action you can have, be, and do anything you want in life.
