5 Tips for Family Ski Safety

With most ski resorts open, it's time for many families believe planing a ski vacation with the family. Before you hit the slopes, remember these simple tips for a ski vacation with your family safe and fun.

1.Children under 12 should always ski / board with an adult.
This is a safety issue, not a reflection of the capacity. Even the most accomplished children should not be skiing without an adult to help navigate the terrain, make decisions and provide oversight in the case of an emergency. In fact, most ski instructors will not let their children loose on the mountain until they are at least 14 - and it is the children who grew up literally on the ski mountain. In addition, two children skiing together does not compensate for an adult.
2.Know the limits of your child (and yours).

Many accidents occur every year because parents push their children beyond their abilities. It's not fun or safe to have children of skiing out of control on slopes too steep for their ability. Of course difficult to build gradually, during the trip. Otherwise, if everyone is skiing at different levels, the plan for a few days of ski school.
3.Follow the rules.

Not ski out of bounds, not speed through the slow areas, not to cut the other skiers and always stay in control. Each lift ticket and trail map sets out the rules of the mountain - to know the code and follow him. It was created for your safety and that of others. More and more ski resorts are actively patrolling the mountains and violators of the Code of tickets or ban them from returning. Parents can be fined for the actions of their children.
4.Practicing proper etiquette ski and teach your children.

Skiers and snowboarders down the mountain have right of way - it is your responsibility to avoid them. Similarly, do not stop in an area that is not clearly visible to skiers or snowboarders who descend from the mountain. Appropriate label makes skiing and snowboarding more fun for everyone.
5.Stay hydrated!

It is easy to get dehydrated at high altitudes, especially while skiing. Drink plenty of fluids both on and off the mountain to avoid the dreaded altitude sickness. If the transition to an altitude above 5000 feet higher than you're used to, intend to take it easy the first day to give everyone a chance to adapt.Above all, have fun and enjoy your time on the mountain.
